Hi guys. been working on my 98 lx because we live on a dirt road that islike a rock crawling course and the suspension is making a clunking noise when the weight shifts from one side to the other. so far ive replaced struts, sway bar end links and sway bar bushings and its still making the noise!!! the weird thing was i replaced the sway bar endlinks first and it helped for a few weeks then started making noise again so i replaced the struts and sway bar bushings to no avail... the noise is coming from both passanger and drivers side. i can feel it in the floor when driving but not in the steering.

 

Can you get the car in the air - be safe - and inspect the ball joints, control arms and bushings.

Do you live in a place where rust is an issue - salt on the roads? Take a close look at the sub frame on the pass side, right below the ac drain tube, for any cracks.

 

There is hardly any rust under the car. all the ball joints are fine. the only bushings that appear to be warn are the outer lower control control arm bushings. im wondering its the steering mechanisms, tie rod ends and ect.

 

With the front off the ground.....grab the tire at 3 and 9 o'clock, try "rocking" the tire and see if there is excess movement?
