Default Fuel door wont open '97

To add to my current other problems. The fuel door does not open. When i pull the fuel door release i hear the cable and it is pulling in the latch but it wont spring open. Is there a spring i can purchase or replace? do i need a new fuel door? I was considering taking a pen spring and stretching it slightly and super gluing it to the inside of the fuel door. I have been able to get it open when i jam a screwdriver in the fuel door then pull the release.

Check whether the latch-tab is bent so it sticks even when the pin is pulled out.

The spring is probably something that looks like a little metal tab right at the hinge. Try bending it a bit? I bet a pen-spring will be way too weak.

I was planning on multiple stretched pen springs glued along the edges but id much rather just see if i can find the tab and bend it back. I will post my finding tomorrow around 1 pm e.s.t. when im free.
