Gas door wont open lever wont budge

Default Gas door wont open lever wont budge

so today i pull up to put gas and i push the lever down to open the gas door thing and it just wouldnt budge. is there a way to fix this... i treid to pry the door open but felt really bad coz it started to scratch the paint

anyone please helpppp.... thank you

Most likely the cable is stuck. I'm not sure how the setup is on an 01, but I can give you a description on the 95.

The trunk/gas cap is on the floorboard near the door. The plastic cover is held on by a screw. You will have to pry up a tab to get to that screw. Once the cover is off, there should be a cable coming from the rear of the car into that assembly. I would first try to spray wd-40 on it to try to unbind it. If that doesn't work, try grabbing the end of that cable (it is a metal cylinder that tees off at the end) with a pair of pliers and pull it towards the front of the car. I wouldn't grab the cable part, because you might fray it.
