Hi, I have a 1997 Accord, love the car, bought it used, got it for the fuel milage and it has gotten 31 too 33 mpg. but when I drive with the windows down the gas fumes are very strong. Any one have some thoughts as to why this is and how to fix it? I have had the gas line looked at but the mechanic said he saw nothing.

 

U sure it's not the exhaust piping leaking fumes out? Maybe one of your welds went bad and thats causing it. I doubt it though, if it smells like fuel then idk? After market exhaust or oem?
