Default Gas Gauge Positioning

Hi All

My daughter's 1997 Accord EX (4 cylinder VTEC) gas gauge remains ON (lets say at the 3/4 level) after the car is shut off. I don't know if thats normal...no MIL lamps is on.

1) Should it go to the E position when car is off?
2) If it does remain in 3/4 poston after car is off, anywhere to start looking for the issue? Would seem like 12VDC is ON all the time for the gauge to be at the 3/4 position...rest of the gauges in the car turn off (go to lowest position)

Thanks in advance

Anybody know why the gauge remains in position even after power is removed. The service manual (electrical) shows power is cut from Fuse 1 (when ignition OFF) which sends the 12VDC to the gauge. Does the meter have some other feature that keeps it in its last position???

Curious minds
