Default GAS level

Hey all. A few years ago I wired up some digital gauges for my 1999 Honda Accord EX 4dr, 4 cylinder, had a problem with the FUEL LEVEL GUAGE and setting it up to work, as I was wiring tested the fuel level wire for a reading, which is behind the dashboard, reading was normal, few mins later, i stopped getting a reading, ever since then, fuel level has never worked. I am back to my stock cluster and of course the fuel level has no reading. I was wondering if someone could help me diagnose what needs to be replaced/fixed... do i need a new fuel pump, new fuel pump relay? im clueless. Any info would be greatly appreciated. thanks.

behind the rear seat and under the spare tire cover there is an access panel, you can remove it to test the sender unit;

As long as your car is running, then your fuel pump is ok. Do as Hondadude suggested by testing the sending unit first.

thanks for the feedback fellas.
I will definetly check as hondadude indicated.
i was wondering, because the honda dealer claims that they can only sell the fuel pump with the sending unit, because it is "built in" with the pump, so thats why im anxious to narrow down the possibilities as to the exact problem. thanks!
