Default Gear Selector Detent Spring?

I have an '04 Accord (V6 KL 5AT) with an issue that just started today. The gear selector lever moves too easily. There used to be a noticeable *thunk* when selecting a gear but that's gone. It still locates properly in the selected gear but now it only takes the slightest pressure to move the shifter, making it possible for an unintended bump from drive into neutral for example. I've been looking at parts diagrams expecting to see a spring somewhere in the console selector mechanism but haven't found one. The only part that sounds like it could be related to this issue is called a Detent Arm Spring (p/n 24634-P6H-000) but looking at the diagram it appears to be down by (or inside) the transmission and I don't know if it's even connected to the issue I'm having. I would like to have the new part on hand before disassembly so it's a quick fix rather than having the car apart for days while parts are shipped. Anyone with prior experience on this issue that can point me in the right direction?

I'm pretty sure the cable just clicks as you go through the gears and the selector locks it in place. My best guess is something is either worn out or stuck in the gear selector inside the car. Try removing the bezel around the gear selector and inspect how it locks in place.
