Default General Accord Questions

Im thinking about buying an accord. Just wondering what years I should be looking for that had the best engine and mechanical reliability. Also I know there a ton of different engine models in the accords, are they all similarly reliable? Any special or rare engines to be on the lookout for.

Ive researched a little and looks like the 96-00 are very reliable years

Thanks for any help

EDIT: so im noticing there are alot of auto tranny problems with the 98-00 years, so i should prolly look for a pre-98?

What price range are you looking for?

Not all 98-02 Accord autos are bad....just aren't that good IMO.

Is a manaul trans out of the question?

This may not be the right section for this...we'll see where is goes and we can move it later if needed...

Sorry, looked around at the topics and figured the "general tech section" fit the closest.

manual would be fine, and hoping to keep it under $4000

Get a manual trans. They're bulletproof & much more fun.

Thumps up for manual transmission, and you can buy the car cheaper with manual trans most of the time. The only downfall is pre 02 the V6 Accord doesn't offer stick shift :-(

Much easier to work on the accord than my 3.5 maxima and my twin turbo stealth :-)

I just wasn't sure where this was going....

I agree, a manual is more fun (yes I drive an auto but just feel I'm missing out )

Again, if you are ok with a manual almost any year will be fine....the four or six are about the same as far as working on them.....don't let that sway your decision...find the right one for you and go with it.
