"Generation" refers to a set range of years.
Example:93-97 is the 5th generation I believe. I'm sure someone will explain it better for you but this is the basic idea. Im not sure what gen. yours is though sorry

Generation refers to the years of the vehicle that were made pretty much the same.
for example 94-97 accords are 5th generations. They are pretty much the same, with just minor differences between years.
The 2008-present(your vehicle) is 8th generation.
