Default Has anyone replaced the Timing Cam Chain Tensioner on a 13 Accord with the 2.4L?

My 2013 Honda Accord is starting to make that rattling noise from Engine During Startups( I have around 55k miles). Ofc Honda doesn't want to own up to their engineering mistake and fix it. So, I will be doing it myself. Parts are $72 with tax and shipping. How hard is the job? Any special precautions? Does it have to be done ASAP or can it wait?

Are you having any other problems like check engine light turning on?

Nope, I hear a rattling/clacking noise everyone I start the car. It last for 1-3 sec then it’s gone. I’ve ordered the cam chain tensioner it’ll be coming in Dec 31st. I’ve read a service bulletin on it it seems like a straight forward job. Just wanted to know if there’s any special precautions I should be taking

I've done timing belts on 2.4L older accords, but never messed with a timing chain (yet), but the principals are the same.

It is important to keep the cam and crank timing set properly, so I'd recommend using white out or a paint pen to place your own marks on the timing chain and a tooth of the gears in case the chain slips off. Then you will be 100% confident the chain would be returned to the proper timing.

I'd probably remove the spark plugs and disconnect the battery, then use a 19mm? ratchet/socket to turn the crankshaft by hand when you replaced the tensioner to make sure the chain is lined up properly and nothing is binding up when spinning the engine by hand.
