Default Head gasket sealer

Has anyone ever used Head Gakset sealer instead of replacing the gasket. i was just wondering if the stuff actually works/ and for how long? Just want my car to make it through the winter and don't feel like doing a head gasket or paying to have someone do it. Thanks

all head gasket sealer I've used/seen is just a spray or glue etc to use in conjunction with a new gasket, if you're going to do it then put in a new gasket and don't risk warping your head

The stuff I got is called Head Gasket Repair from Bar's Leak. You're supposed to empty your coolant and dump it in there and run the eng. for awhile, it sets where there is a leak. I was hoping to get some feedback if the stuff actually works or not.

I wouldn't use that.... it works occasionally but it can also block water passages, it's just like putting the radiator stop leak crap in, sure it will most likely find the hole but it doesn't know which hole it's finding.... that stuff can cause some issues, it usually works for a short time and is a NASTY little trick to cover up problems before selling a car (bad car lots use this crap a lot....) but I would NEVER use that stuff on any vehicle I intended to keep

if you want the car to be reliable, you need to fix it right when it breaks down...that stuff will not work for long......

Yeah, I would really avoid anything like that, if it can plug up a blown head gasket, imagine what else it will plug up (radiator, water jackets etc.). But if you are dead set on using it, I suggest one called "Block Seal", I used it once years ago on an Olds Cutlass diesel and it sealed a cracked block for about a year until it just totally went out on me. That kind of stuff is really for last ditch efforts to keep something running, unless your car is a total piece of junk, don't use that stuff, just get the head gasket repaired.
