Onca a new head gasket has been torqued in, could the head be removed and retorque that same new gasket?

 

Its not recommended, its also not recommended to reuse the head bolts.

Would it work? possibly.

 

the head bolts stretch every time they are tq. down I recommend spending the $120 and get head studs they won’t stretch they are made to handle lot of abuse...and No you should not reuse that gasket. I mean you can reuse it but it’s gonna blow very soon after. When it does it might cost you more in the long run.

 

Head bolts need to be replaced?....these are not TTY. Help me understand?

To the op, if the car has been running for any period of time, replace the gasket. If this a STOCK Accord and the bolts have no damage, they CAN BE re-used......might clean and re-oil them but they will be fine.......Rice and G22 are use to "modding" and in their cars, yes studs and new bolts would be needed.

This car is an '05 sedan EX 2.4L daily driver wife's car. That being said, I'm planning on keeping it forever plus an extra few years after that.
