Default Heater is blowing cold air

i have a 2003 honda accord ex with the navigation system (everything is ditigal). my heat is blowing cold air. i don't have a simple on and off switch. i have an a/c button, a screen pops up with option for a/c on/off then below that vent option, then below that air levels. my temp is set to high and the a/c button is off, but no hot air. now the funny thing is it work sometime (more not then ever). what could be wrong?

Hi>
Have you did the normal thing of checking your fluid levels in the coolant system..? Is it staying up or are you haveing to keep adding fluid?
Are you getting white smoke out of your tailpipe and excess water dripage?
4cyl or 6 cyl?

Let us know this!

I made a post in the DIY section called HVAC codes.

Try the diagnostic procedure. I think the same steps are taken on a car with navigation, the images are for the accord without navigation.

Check to see if the heater cable has slipped off the heater valve arm.

If it has, the fix is to slip it back on the heater valve arm. Then use a 10mm length of 3.5mm vacuum hose and slide it on the arm to hold the cable in place to help prevent the cable from slipping off again.

Thanks for the responses. I have a 6cy and I also noticed that the light on my dasboard where the time and temp shows seems to dim in and out at times as if there's a shortage in the electric (if that makes sense) because some time when i hit a bump the light gets brighter and then go dim again. but if i tap the top of it the lights comes back on. Do you think that plays a part of my heat not working?

I would say not, but you do appear to have a loose or shorted connection in the dashboard for those lights...

PAhonda got a question; I did the HVAC test and once it start running the test I didn't know what to do after that, how long the test should run, what was i excepting from the test so i just sat there. i assumed i sat there long enuff because it didn't do anything different after the temp was just blinking consantly for about 5min. i think my heat was starting to work but then again it was warm outside, i will check in the morning when its a little colder.

Default Same problem here.

Hi,

I have a 2006 Honda Accord EX-L, V6, 6 speed. It is also equipped with navigation. Yesterday, heater was blowing cold air. I increased the temperature but still cold. So I increased the temperature to its max (Hi=87) but it was still cold. Thankfully for heated seat!

Wendy Lewis, have you found out what was wrong with yours? It could be the same problem for me since I have everything you listed -- especially the navigation.

Let me know. Much appreciated!!

Have you checked for codes...as PA suggested to the OP. Have you checked the cable as Redbull suggested to the OP.

Too many times we never know the end of the story.....so I assume, something that was suggested solved the issue ??????

I did do what PA suggested and ran the HVAC test and my heat worked but every now and then I still have the problem of my heat running cold then I run that test again and my heat works. I don't check my fluids personally I do get my regular oil changes and I believe they check fluid levels and they never mention any being low. also I do not have white smoke coming out my tail pipe.
