Default Heater Control Repair

Today my heater control ***** cracked, a sad day but I'm pretty sure this happens rather frequently on these cars.

Here is the story of my repair.

The culprit. Both were cracked, this is the better of the two.

The ***** are ABS which means they can be welded with acetone. I mixed up some acetone/ABS slurry and dabbed it onto the cracks and put it in a vice.

Thats all well and good but a **** fixed in this way can only be as strong as the original. I want ***** that are strong like ox.

Here is my solution.

Where have you been ? Haven't seen you in some time.

Never thought of that one.....I thought about some tubing - copper or brake line - but I gave in and got a new one from the dealer......I still have the old one - don't ask why.

Anyway, cool fix and also nice to see you around again...take care.

Looks good. Creative use of a spring. I usually end up with a zip tie or clamp to keep it from expanding depending on the situation, but the spring will definitely be stronger. Where / what did the spring come from?

The spring came from a drawer in my work room not too helpful for anyone wanting to do the same repair but Im sure a similar diameter spring can be found at a hardware store.
