I think you should install a Honda OEM thermostat.

@ PAhonda I agree with you about installing an OEM thermostat which I will do once I figure out what's going on. The one that is in the car is working though.

The cooling fan came on after bleeding the system but the gauge was reading right under 'H'. It cycled twice at the same point and cooled the car down to 3/4 (half way between the middle and H. Do you think the gauge or sending unit is bad?

Your car has no sending unit. The engine coolant temperature sensor sends a signal to the engine computer. The engine computer uses that signal for the open/closed loop. The computer also sends a signal to the gauge. If something was wrong with the ECT, then I'd suspect you would get a check engine light.

My guess is that the new aftermarket thermostat is your issue. That is why I suggested an OEM Honda thermostat.

Why does the fan cut on when the gauge is reading at 'H'. IS this normal?

Buy cooling system switches and thermostats ONLY from Honda. The aftermarkets might be bad out of the box, the wrong opening temperature, and will never last as long, not even close.
