Default HELP !! 90 DX has spark and starts 90% of time..

Lately my 90 DX as been starting 90% of the time. Its got to be a fuel thing as it cranks and has spark to wires. It very random and is getting worse. When it fires it runs fine. My guess is its not the fuel pump but some sensor or such regulating it. Where should I start???

You first need to confirm either spark or fuel is cause of your problem.

Suggest each time you start turn keyswitch to On and listen carefully. You should hear a couple of clicks from under dash as keyswitch is turned to On, and fuel pump in tank should run for 2-3 secs. If you hear these sounds when no-start occurs, then spark missing is likely. Ignition keyswitch assy can be intermittent and would be first to check for 12V on Blk/Yel wire at distributor connector.

If you don't hear the sounds when no-start occurs, the fuel pressure is likely missing. You can confirm by spraying starter fluid or throttle body cleaner in the intake fo 3-5 secs and starting. If it runs briefly and quits, fuel pressure is missing. Main fuel relay and fuel pump are likely the cause.

good luck

I have spark as I put a timing light on wires. Where would I find fuel relay? I was told the pump is under back seat. Thanks!!!

If you checked spark when no-start was occuring, then fuel problem is likely.

Main fuel relay is under the dash on driver's side high up near underside of dash and car kickpanel.

Fuel pump is in fuel tank and can only be accessed by removing the fuel tank. Check Online Manuals post in DIY forum for a download of 90-93 Accord manual. Any of those years would work

good luck
