Default Help with codes

Someone I know is having trouble with a 87 honda accord Lxi. It will hesitate on acceleration and will sometime stall out. We tried to check for codes but got some strange results. Our book said that single digit codes will be short flashes while 2 digit codes will be long flashes for the first digits and short flashes for the second digit. However when we tried to check the codes, we got 12 short flashes (code 12?) that would repeat over and over. The flashes for a code 12 should be one long flash followed by two short flashes, not 12 short flashes. Is the computer bad? If I check for codes, how will I know if there are not codes? Will the LED just not flash, or is there a cerain code for "all systems passed"?

Go to a local AutoZone and have them pull your codes for you, then they can explain your codes as to what they are showing...

I have a 92 ford ranger that uses the same code flashing pattern as the honda, so I understand how to read the codes. It is just that the code that I am getting is not listed in the code books that I have referenced. I also looked at the troubleshooting section of the AutoZone website for pulling codes and there is nothing there to explain the unknown code that I am getting. I just thought that someone else might have had the same problem. The computer could be bad but that is the last thing that I want to replace.

Once again. go to autozone and they will read it. They plug in and get a read out. Trust us.
