I'd be willing to bet that you were just low on coolant and you were hearing it suck the coolant up... I've had that EXACT same issue when doing a head gasket before. Just fill the radiator to the best you can and then fill your overflow bottle to just below the "MAX" line and start it up/let it warm up... once it's up to temperature watch your overflow bottle, if it starts going down then you know you're still a tad low on fluid, also, just prior to it reaching temp (when you first start the car) there is a small bleeder valve on top of the waterjacket housing that holds in your thermostat, crack that open just slightly until a small amount of fluid comes out then tighten it up so you know that any air from your radiator is out of there... you can do this again once the car reaches temp but be carefull you don't get burned... operate slowly, use a closed end wrench so you don't slip off... if the overflow bottle gets to low just add some more to it.

thanks everybody; what do u mean by bleed the cooling system desert?
also i plan on going to the junk yard 2mrw 2 pick up a master cylinder, im thinking about getting a alternator as well cause the current one is making a very load squeal and smoke is rising off of it, what is up with that???
