Help, starter in the snow issue!!!!
I have a 92 honda accord. It Is is slow to start in the cold lately. Last night my brother borrowed my battery and left it out all night with the hood up and it snowed severl inches, into my open car. When we put the battery back today it would not crank. The battery is fine but the starter will not turn over and just makes a "groaning" sound. Does anyone know what is going on, is there a way to remedy this or is it really messed up. Please Help!!!!!!
Use the following response after you slap your brother.
Sounds like you got a couple of short circuits from the snow. The best thing to do would be to get as much snow off as you can and then let the car sit in a heated garage so that it can dry out overnight. I would also have the battery checked and see if it has sufficient cranking amps. You might also want to get a spray can of wire dryer. You can spray this on most electrical parts and it will help remove any left over water.
Give that a try.
P.S. Don't ever let your brother near your car again.
