I have a 03 Accord coupe with the factory Bridgestone EL-41's. At highway speeds, it drifts in either direction. On windy days, it is extremely hard to control. I keep it aligned and have had it rotated and balanced several times. Is this a engineering flaw or is there a tire or suspension problem? Your help is appreciated.

Welcome to the forums..

There may be uneven tire wear problem, so check your tires..
Also you may have a lack of lubrication at the ball-joints and at the tie-rod ends..make sure your mechanic is lubeing them when he's doing your car.

You could also have a sagging or a broken spring or strut under there, check that out.
Worn strut plates and also check for a loose stablizer bar...that could also be the culprit.

I have new tires and the problem remains. The suspension has been checked out and no problems have been found and I thought that all components were lubricated for life. Are the spring and strut potential issues one that require a more intrusive search other than a visial inspection? I am beginning to suspect that this is a charcteristic of this model and there is nothing that will change it. Let me know what you think.

 

What tire pressures are you running? It's possible that you got a bum set of tires or allignment. The allignment machine is only as good as its operator.

 

The tire pressure is 32psi all around. I just replaced them with Bridgestone LS-V's and although better, the problem is still there. Also, I have had alignments performed at several different shops so I am not sure that the alignment is an issue.
