It only does this on cold starts like first thing in the morning.

It sometimes also makes the soft clunk noise, which I've heard is normal (my last Accord 2006 did it too; driving a Honda Accord 2011 4-cylinder right now, almost at 100,000 miles).

Is the quick shake normal too?

 

This should probably go in General Tech because its not really "internal" engine. I'll move it over there where more people will probably see it & help.

Try this work around: shift quickly from P to N, then put it into R.
