Default Honda Accord shudders and jerk after prolong driving

Good day to you all. Is being long I communicated on this forum. I was having difficulties logging in. But it has been corrected now. My Honda Accord 1998 model auto 4-cylinder is having some issues. Each time I drive for long distances whenever i come to a stop probably seeing a speed bumps, and I want to accelerate by hitting d gas pedal, the car shudders and jerks and at time loses power and then rev to 3000 rpm before picking up speeds. At high speeds and gear it moves smoothly no banging. The transmission fluid is clean, no burnt smell and within gauge on the dipstick. Though the engine oil is due for a change (7 months). Initially I thought the auto trans is failing to shift gears. But scan results reveals the following: P1259( vitec solenoid switch circuit bank 1), P0118( Engine coolant temperature sensor malfunction). No code related to auto transmission failure was observed.
Please kindly advise on what to do to solve these problems, are we to change these sensors or check the wiring connections to these sensors.
Thanks and God bless.
Please 🙏 kindly send me pictures of these 2 sensors in this vehicle model so that the technician here can easily perform the services.
I will be glad to receive them.
Thanks

For any code, the actual problem can be the sensor, the wiring/connections, or the PCM. To avoid wasting money replacing a part, you should test before replacing.

I can't post pictures from my 98-02 shop manual. Go to an Honda partts site like hondapartsnow.com and look up the sensors and get the Honda part number. The parts diagram will give you an idea of the sensor location. Google the part number and you should find sites showing a picture of the component.

Search youtube for your specific codes on a 98-02 Accord 4-cylinder/2.3L engine to see what others did to test and repair. If you gamble and replace sensors, please keep the original sensors. I've seen new non-Honda sensors that do not work and complicate the repair, because most people assume a brand new part works.

Thanks to you PAhonda. These information will greatly assist me in making proper repairs. I'm very much grateful. Please can prolong engine oil used and when not replaced on time triggers these codes?

Old oil likely didn't cause the check engine light for the vtec. Low oil can cause problems, so check the oil level and add oil when needed. I typically change my oil on the mileage listed in my owner's manual. Old oil over time can cause engine damage and sludge buildup, so make sure you stick to the recommended intervals for service.

I don't see how the oil could cause an issue with the coolant temp sensor.

Good day to you all in the forum. I had previously posted complain regarding my Honda Accord that it shudders and jerks after prolong driving when coming to a speed bumps and when you want to accelerate. Initial scan reveals P1259 but my technician was able to fix some wiring connections around it. when the scan was repeated it didn't shows up but the following codes were noticed: P0325, P0141, P1491. It seems P0325 might be the likely culprit. I was told it has something to do with the knock sensors. The car moves fine and smooth at high speed, but the only problem is it shudders and jerks when you want to press on the gas pedal after crossing a speed bumps when driven for a long time. It is like when I drive, in the middle of driving, it switches to neutral, and gets worse and worse the longer the car runs. I thought it was problem from the auto transmission. But no codes were revealed related to auto transmission problems. It means I can't drive the car for long distances.
Please how do I resolve this issues.
Other signs noticed are;
1) the car tends to hesitate before moving probably revving to 4000 rpm
2) there is this dragging as if the gear is not shifting.
All these happens after prolong driving of the car

P1491 means the EGR valve isn't lifting high enough when commanded. P0141 is the heater circuit on the O2 sensor that is in the catalytic converter. P0325 is a knock sensor issue that looks fixed from another thread you created.

Thanks to you PAhonda. It has been resolved after replacing the old knock sensor with the new one. It remains the engine mount on the left hand side I will change later
