Default Honda ATF-Z1 vs Honda ATF-DW1

I didnt see a thread about this but there are lots on other forums, it looks like Honda quit selling the ATF-Z1 transmission fluid. They were all about marketing the new ATF-DW1 for Honda's when I was at the dealership. I wasn't comfortable putting it in a transmission with 180K miles on didnt want to rock the boat, with a unknown. There still seems to be some available ebay etc, so if someone has a older vehicle they may want to think about stocking up.

The new honda fluid is supposed to be backwards compatible.

The new Honda DW-1 is backward compatible like PAhonda stated.

I just recently put into my nephew's 1995 Accord with over 300,000 miles (this was my previous car). It has no problems what so ever and actually shifts smoother.

Thats great to hear, I new about the backwards compatibility I was and still am a bit weary about putting it in a high mileage vehicle. I bought some (DW-1) for our CR-V that has only 15k miles on it, I will use it in there.

What's the difference if your vehicle is high mileage or not? Do you really think Honda would a produce an new ATF (dw) that is inferior to the product it supercedes (z1)?
