Honda factory installed car starter
In July I purchased a 2008 Honda Accord and I asked to have the dealer install a car starter. However, I am puzzled with its operation. It is a Honda factory installed car starter.

I can use the remote to start the car which is excellent! However, the car stops running once the doors are unlocked. Does that make sense to anyone? This will take a toll on the engine- having to start it twice. I understand that there is a security issue with the car starter, but on my last Honda I did not have this problem. I could unlock and get in the car, but the engine would shutdown if I tried to put it into gear with out the key in the ignition. I also recently leased a Pilot with an “non-Honda” automatic car starter from the same dealership and I do not have this problem.
Is there an explanation for all this? Can this be fixed?
Thank you,
Mike
