Default hondabond ultra flange 2-urgent

I'm wondering if anyone knows the correct process for using ultra flange 2 sealant.I'm reinstalling my oIL pump on 01 v6 accord,I've already installed it,I put sealant on and reassembled and torqued it down. After further reading I've read I should've just got it hand tight ,wait an hour and THEN torque down?? Any quick advice would be great,if it's wrong I'll just take it back off and redo while I'm there..Thanks

When you wait an hour that allows the sealant to begin hardening. So when you eventually tighten it, the sealant doesn't squeeze out - into the oil passages or hopefully outside the engine.

I suppose it's easy to take it off & seal it again now, because it's accessible.

Did you use enough sealant so it might ooze out towards the inside of the oil pump? That sounds bad, but I don't know how likely it would be to cause a problem.

I put about a 1/4 in bead so when I torqued it it did squish out.Think I'm just gonna redo it while I can!

This is an old debate, one that I asked years ago on one of my Ford engine forums.

The verdict on whether to wait, or not when using ANY sealant was split. One side saying they wait until it sets up, the other tightens it up immediately.

I'm on the side that tightens it up asap. My thinking is that when the sealer sets up there is more chance for it to split as you tighten down.

But, both ways seem to work from what I have read, just don't use too much, and you should be Ok either way.

After applying the liquid gasket, you do not wait an hour to torque it down. After assembly, wait at least 30 minutes before filling engine with oil.

NOTE: Do not install the parts if 5 minutes or
more have elapsed since applying liquid
gasket. Instead, reapply liquid gasket after
removing the old residue.

More current Honda info.:
NOTE: Wait 30 minutes before adding oil if needed,
and wait 3 hours before starting the engine.
