Horn problem
1999 Honda Accord 2.2 litre I think! Not my car, belongs to landlady here in the Bahamas. The horn went off early one morning, continuously. Disconnected the earth lead from the battery. Left it for 3 hours, touched the lead on battery and horn sounded. I have no tools and nor does landlady. I cut the wires to the horns as I couldn't get the horns off or the connector due to limited access for my hands! Reconnected battery and no horns of course. At the end of this month, it has to have a safety inspection, and the horn has to work. So what would cause the horns to sound all the time? Where would the relay be? I know it can't be the fuse. If the relay is in one of the fuse boxes does anyone know which relay it is? No handbook and the diagrams on the fuse lids are in Japanese. I'm guessing it was a grey import in the past. It's right-hand drive by the way. Could it be the horn push? How does the wheel centre come off? I can see some metal clips things through holes in the back of the steering wheel. Does anybody have any bright ideas?
Finally got hold of the car. Took the front bumper off to connect the wires to the horns I cut previously. They didn't sound when the wires were repaired as I had removed the relay. Put the relay back in with the battery connected, no sound. Pushed the horn button on the steering wheel, they worked!!! Didn't really do anything apart from taking the relay out. I would imagine if the relay was stuck closed all this time, it would have burnt out? So either the relay unstuck soon after I cut the horn wires or something else was stuck and corrected itself - like the horn push maybe, which I guess is just earth for the relay itself. So all is well so far and hasn't gone off for the past few days. My landlady is selling the car now and has ordered a 2011 Honda CR-V from Japan. Thanks again Sean for your help.
