1996 Honda accord lx v6

hot/cold **** turning **** is doesn't work.

if i click it all the way to "hot" the **** will go all the way, but when i let go of the ****, it clicks twice towards "cold" side.
vise versa, if i turn the **** to "cold" and let go, it will click back twice toward "hot" side.

So far, i have purchased another assembly and replaced it (and attached the back to the cable that is used to control the vents). but problem still persists, heater doesn't work well. it's very weak.

what do i do next?

 

my car does the same thing. I just turn mine all the way to the left for cold, wait for it to click back and then i turn it all the way cold again and it stays far over. try it
