Default How do I lock and unlock glove box?

Hi, I just acquired a 2005 accord to replace my wrecked 2011 odyssey that I had the same issue with. I don’t know how to lock or unlock the glovebox.

I see there is a key slot, but mine only goes in partially and when I turn the key it doesn’t lock the glove box it’s just stuck in unlock position.

I couldn’t find anything in the operators manual.

That's how you lock it. The key doesn't go all the way in. Is there something wrong with the alignment of the glove box. Try pushing it up while trying to turn the key

Tried that with no luck. I had the same issue with my odyssey but I thought maybe the key and ignition wasn’t the original but now I know these are original keys and locks and it’s the same thing with this glove box. The key just won’t turn.

I guess I’ll keep banging on it hoping it works some day.

I'll have to try mine. I have used it since I drove it off the lot

Mine work as described with no issues. Could it be the compartment was replaced?

Try spraying some WD-40 into the glovebox lock to unbind the lock mechanism?

If your key doesn't lock it then it's not the correct key and the box has been replaced. It's a simple mechanism. Original key goes in partially which is how it's suppose to be and then you turn. That's it
