How long will the tires last or the car? If you can't tell when I tire is needing replacement read this http://www.wikihow.com/Know-when-Car...Need-Replacing

Do be cheap when it comes to tires.

Measure the depth of the tread grooves. Nearly all tires start out 10/32-inch depth, and 2/32-inch is considered to be completely worn out. The tread-wear-bars molded into the tread pattern are 2/32 high.

Your question is very confusing. Are you asking about the engine, tires or both?

when you go to a shop to check your tires (i.e. full service oil change), they give you readings of each tire
FR #/10
FL #/10
RR #/10
RL #/10

as Jim mentioned, 10/10 is new. 2/10 is dangerous. I start thinking about a replacement at 4/10, replace by 3/10.

Each tire has a rated "life" - some are 40k, some are 80k. Tire life is determined by the rubber compound (hard or soft), tread design, and driving habits (hard cornering, etc.).

Good tires make or break the ride and handling. I have BF Traction T/A on mine. Good in dry pavement, good handling in wet but the take off in snow isn't great (despite the ratings). however, i don't get stuck and just have to take it easy on the throttle on take offs. I use Goodyear Regatta2 on my Camry (and have for the past 8 years/3 Camry's) and I get 70k mi out of them each time with amazing traction and ride quality (comfort).
