Just curious; what is the opinion on the forum about accord transmissions? Would you say that they are just as reliable as the motors?

i would have to say yes. Im pushing 200k on my accord and the only thing my tranny has ever done is not want to stay in overdrive. other than that its run perfect. and yes its a 5-speed overdrive automatic the trans will shift 3 times normally and then when it does decide to go into overdrive shifts again.

Ok, new info, the acura is from a little used car dealership, they are saying that 1600 is as low as they will go. A hood from the junk yard, if they have one would be around 75 bucks, I've have a painter friend that would just charge me for the paint, $40. The lady at the car dealership said that the taxes would be $120 or something like that plus another 40 something for the transfer of title. Having the brakes done, with parts, and having the timing belt down, would be $350. I was looking to spend under $2000. Then of course there are tiny miscelancious **** to fix,-glove box just falls out, stains ( no big deal), head liner is droping, drivers side door wont lock, and heat wont come out of the front vents, and there are no interior lights that work, and the antenna is broken off. What do you guys think? The Accord was clean interior, clean paint, breaks felt good but dont know how good they really were, it burnt oil. The accord, $1,400 240,000 miles, the acura,$1,600+the **** that will have to be fixed, and taxes, 170,000
Give me some opinions plz, but keep in mind im just looking for a cheap realiable car to drive for the winter and not have to do anything/ spend money on, other than normal maintenence.
Thanks
Jesse

Were I you, I would stick with the Accord. But since you are just looking for something cheap for the winter, the Acura might not be bad, just leave the headliner and stuff. If its just a driver, dont worry about the cosmetics, just the mechanical.

I would still stick with getting the accord man. that acura sounds like it would give you more problems in the long run.
