Default I need some A/C help

I tried posting this on another Honda forum but didn't get any replys. I have a 2001 Civic DX, air conditioning stopped working a couple of days ago. When I first started looking I found a 20 A fuse burnt out for the condensor fan. Fan now works but still no a/c. Controls seem to be working ok, condensor fan comes on once the a/c switch is turned on and the temp control works but not cold air. I removed the guard in the wheel opening and the clutch turns freely but doesn't engage. I tried swapping the relays in the engine compartment fuse box but no luck there either. Any suggestions as what to check next. I'm cookin any help would be appreciated.

Brian

is your condernsor fan coming on? The main issue I've seen in here is either the second fan for the A/C doesn't come on or your a/c needs recharged. Start the car, pop the hood and turn on the a/c, verify that the right hand fan (as you're facing the car) comes on. If your fan is coming on have you checked for a/c leaks and to make sure that it's charged?

Does the compressor clutch wire have voltage?

yea if both fans are coming on when you turn the a/c on then it might be your compressor clutch fuse that is blown. i dont have an explanation for why it would have blown though, which would be the biggest problem

Ok, back from a few checks, both fans are working, I tested the blue/red stripe running down to a plug just above the pump that has voltage. This wire runs down on top of the pump but because things are so cramped up I can't follow it without taking the power steering pump and altenator off. I can see a ground plus a black and a red wire(with fusable link) sitting on top of the pump. I checked for voltage here: the black wire has voltage but the red wire has none.

The blu/red is the one your after, it should plug into a red wire at the compressor. If they have 12 volts, the thermal protector may have popped. You'll have to dig a little deeper.

No voltage on the red wire. I found a pic of the culprit here in case anyone else is having a similar problem. Item # 5

Is it ok to assume that if there isn't voltage at the red wire, then the thermal protector opened????
