Default I think i have 2 problems that are related.

Please help!!!!!

i just got a '91 honda accord lx it has the automatic transmition with the sport button, when i am driving my speedomoter keeps cutting out at random and about half the time the light on the instrument cluster for the sport button starts flashing.

i have asked arround and what i have heard is that the speed sencer is out and that is causing the speedomoter to go out i also think cause the speed sencer is linked to the sport function and that is why it is flashing.

what is the most common sulution for this? i love the car and it gets decent gas milage but i am still fixing it up one thing at a time and i have never delt with a problem with the transmition or speed sencer or even a sport button.

That sport light flashing means that the transmission computer (TCU) detected a problem. The speed sensor is one of the possible problems that can trigger the flashing light.

You should get the actual code before blindly replacing a sensor. You short the service connector with a piece of wire or a thin paperclip and count the flashes of the check engine light for engine code(s), or for transmission codes, you count either the D4 light or the Sport light flashes. A long flash = 10, and short flashes = 1, so L L L S S S = 43. You can post the codes on here, and we can give you more detailed instructions.

See: http://techautorepairs.com/dtc.html for a description with pics.

The standard hookup is called OBD2 and all cars made from 1996-present have them. Some 1995 vehicles had them early, but not all.

The 91 accord is called OBD1 and your 91 accord does not have that standard connection.

Your accord has a blue connector with only two pins. You will take a piece of wire or a thin paperclip and connect the two pins together. You will turn the key to the II position on the car and count the S light flashes (or D4).

Just follow the instructions in that link I posted previously to get your error code.
