Default Intermittent Code P0141 ('04 2.4L EX)

My MIL has come on twice and reset itself both times. It has been OK now for a week. What now?

From reading old posts, P0141 is Bank 1 Sensor 2 heater. Am I correct that this is the downstream O2 sensor? My car is a 4 Cy 2004 Accord.

Is changing it a reasonable DIY job? Tips?

What is the current thinking on chioce of replacement sensor? Bosh or dealer-purchased?

We are planning a 1500-mile trip soon. It looks like this shouldn't be an issue for the trip, even if the code resurfaces, since the sensor eventually heats up from the exhaust heat. Right? Wrong?

Thanks!
Vaughn

The Check Engine Light may come on/off as the intermittent condition comes/goes. It's disconcerting if you don't know the code being thrown. If you have a Obd2 scanner, then you should be in good shape.

Most seem to think Denso O2 sensors are superior, but a lot of folks have used Bosch sensors.

Easy diy, but you will need to elevate on jack stands (securely!) for access. Requires release of connector inside cabin under carpet at passenger feet.

Shop manual was my first investment in my 07 Accord. Manual would help here also.

good luck
