Default Intermittent starter problems

So the car usually starts fine. Everynow and then it doesnt. It'l start an rev and then it just dies, then it wont start at all for 10 minutes to an hour, when it finally starts its super rough for a few seconds then its good. the weird thing is how it only happens once in a while, when i just bought gas one time, one time after driving a lot, one morning when i was low on gas, once while driving. No recognizable common circumstance each time. Anyone have any ideas?

It is a 1990 4dr LX manual, I think a 2.2L 4cyl engine. It actually began to die last night while driving again. At a traffic light the idle just started to get super rough and the car began to shake, then i gun it and i was fine.

Engine appears to be starving for fuel. I'm betting on a problem withthe fuel itself, or afuel delivery systemmalfunction or restriction (maybe filter).

Will you attempt to DIY, or take it to someone elsefor repair?

x2 on the fuel problem. I'd start by checking/changing the filter. An intermittent fuel getting problem can be a bit hard to diagnose though, as proven by TexasHonda.
