JDM F23 engine swap questions
#52
First, sorry to resurect an old thread
I was wondering, since I have one of the F23A5 rarities and it seems finding a good condition used motor for means looking at some questionable A5's in a sea of A1/A4's
I was wondering about what problems I might encounter installing the A1/4. since you guys have all seen them close up I was wondering if you could tell me a few things
are the connectors all the same for the wiring harness or will I need a new harness as well as ECU?
on google I discovered that someone had done this, but they talked about cutting the harness, they used the original non VTEC ECU fine then tried a VTEC one but it wouldn't start - someone said the ECU needed to be modified for the key code due to anti theft and there were no further posts.
can anyone shed some light? I'm a very handy dude, so I think I can handle swapping to the other engine, but before I commit to it I want to make sure I have everything I'm going to need. I don't really want to get into splicing 2 harnesses together, not because I can't but I don't want to add to the number of unknowns in a breakdown.
this is a 2000 Honda Accord DX "Sport" model with 5 sp Std 4 door.
thanks for your time
