Your engine is a f22b2. It is a 2.2L non v-tec

5w-30 oil. I like PureOne Purlator oil filters.

Honda ATF. Drain ~3quarts. Refill transmission. Drive car for a while. Repeat 2 more times. Do not flush the transmission.

Any air filter.

Use only NGK spark plugs that are recommended in the owner's manual. They are the V-power copper plugs.

You can also get a 94 shop manual from the spooner link I posted in the online manuals thread in the DIY section. That is almost identical to your 96 you bought.

That is the correct shop manual. There are some differences between the 94 and 96, but this should help with most problems to troubleshoot. The 96 is obd2, so you can get codes scanned at autozone. There is also a service connector like the 94 you can short to get error codes. A sensor in the distributor was moved to the engine block on the 96. The 96 has a second o2 sensor. Other than that, the 94 and 96 are pretty much the same.

I am not sure how much a quart of Honda ATF costs. You can call your dealership to find out. In the shop manual it says you can use DEXRON® II Automatic Transmission Fluid as well.

Your transmission has ~6 quarts of fluid in it. When you drain it, only ~3 quarts come out. I have only owned manual transmission cars.

Looking in the shop manual, it says to run the car until it gets to operating temperature, drain the fluid, refill. So you are only replacing a third to half of the fluid. That is why some members to suggest to do 3 changes to exchange most of the fluid.

Some people will drain on the weekend, drive it around for the next week, then do the drain/refill on the next weekend.

You can also judge how clean is the ATF that drains out.

Maybe the best thing is to establish a drain/fill interval where the ATF never gets so dirty that you have to do multiple drain/fill cycles.

That still leaves you to (possibly) do multiple drain/fills just this once to get it all clean.

Last I did the tranny fluid at 60k miles it was i think $7.31 a quart... Not cheap, but way cheaper than taking it somewhere...

Drain, fill, run for ~10 miles... repeat as much as necessary, but shouldn't need to repeat more than 3 times.

Yeah, that seems to be Honda's traditional way for auto-trans. There's a screen, but not for normal maintenance - you have to dismantle the trans to change it.

The drain plug has a magnet, so you can also judge things by the crud sticking to that.
