Just bought a 2002 accord 5-speed, but...
First time poster, long time lurker.
So I've recently come into possession of a 2002 accord LX 5-speed, but the instrument cluster is that of the automatic version like this:

My question is this: Is there any chance of the factory releasing a 5-speed with this dash? or did one of the previous owners swap it for some reason(like mileage). The current mileage is showing about 142,000.
The car runs perfect, but I just thought that it having the PRND321 in the panel was weird. I didn't notice this until after I closed the deal.
Thanks for the help.

The instrument cluster or the transmission probably been swapped. More likely the cluster.
You can go to an internet Honda dealer site like Bernardi Honda parts and enter the VIN to see if it originally came with a 5 speed.

How do i go about doing this, i looked up Bernardi Honda parts but cant figure out where to go to search a vin #?
Enter the VIN and press GO, it will give some of the car's info.
There are VIN decoders online that you can enter your VIN to figure out the original information for your car.
1HGCG51....
If the 7th digit is 1 (coupe) or 5 (sedan), then your car came with a MT. If that digit is 2 or 6, then it came with an automatic transmission.

I told them the reason why I was doing this was similar to the proverb:" Give a man a fish and you feed him for a day. Teach a man to fish and you feed him for a lifetime."
Well, most of the people told me they wanted the fish given to them.
