Default just bought a 98 with 230k!?

hey whats up forums so i just got the car from the original owner and i was curious is there anything i should look out for? Currently there is no smoke out the pipe and no weird noises out the engine. Timing and water pump were swapped at 140k and he had paperwork to prove it. thatS a couple miles from then till now. Should i swap that out? is 230K TOO much?

ANY HELP IS GREATLY APPRECIATED.

Well, that timing belt has 90k miles on it, so you'll be replacing it before long. Probably supposed to go every 100k miles or something like that.

With that many miles, there's no automatic answer over the web. You'll want to look over every maintenance thing. How long since anti-freeze & brake fluid was replaced? Tranny fluid (auto or manual)? You didn't even tell us whether it's a 4-cyl or V-6?

98 & 99 are almost identical anyway. I won't change any of my advice from before.

Is it an automatic trans? If so, they're a bit delicate so don't abuse it.

better jump on that timing belt, and with those miles a counter balance shaft belt too. i would change the oil , run it til it gets warm, thn change it again. will give an idea if any sludge is present. check those suspension components... tie rods ,ball joints, axle boots, wheel bearings.

any pics

If you changed the waterpump, you had to remove the timing belts to do that. Did you really put the old timing belts back on? Cause you're gonna do that job all over again...
