Default was just wondering if this will fit....

idk if this is the right spot to post, but was just wondering if a 98 coupe hood would bolt and latch right on a 98 sedan? from what i can tell the only difference between the two is the nose of the coupe comes down to the bumper a lil further which is fine bc i have a coupe bumper. i was told it shuld fit, but just wanna make sure before i make the purchase

honDUHchick,

The hoods themselves are practically identical yet they have differing part numbers, 60100-S80-A90ZZ for the coupe and 60100-S87-A90ZZ for the sedan. The hinges are the same, as evidence by their identical part numbers.

Theoretically, I suppose that you could retrofit the coupe hood onto your sedan utilizing the existing hinges, but the fit may not be 100% spot on. You may need to make some minor alterations to the body work in order to accommodate the coupe's hood. I would suggest pitching the idea to a local reputable body shop and see if they can fabricate some sort of solution.

Interesting mod, by the way

If you've already fit the front bumper, then maybe (?) that's the only thing you need. It might be that the only difference between the 2 hoods is how they fit against the 2 different bumpers out at the front end.

Let us know how it works. Did you have to do much to fit the coupe bumper?

The latch assembly (#42 in the pic) is the same for the 98-02 coupe and sedan. The radiator support is the same too. The latch would be in the same spot for the coupe and sedan. So the coupe hood loop should line up with the latch on your sedan body.

Did you measure across your original hood and the coupe hood to see if the width is the same? The sedan and coupe use the same hinge too. Also measure the distance between the threaded holes where the hood bolts to the hinge just so you are not surprised.
