Knocking sound when shifting from 2nd to 3rd gear
I have a 2008 accord coupe and recently I've been hearing a knocking sound when I shift from 2nd to 3rd gear. It has only happend 3 times for the last week and I brought it to the dealer. They told me that unless I can reproduce the sound, they can't really tell me what's going on. Anyone have an idea? It makes the "knock" after I release the clutch...
Is it in the engine or does it sound like something is loose. If its in the engine is it a full throttle or light acceleration. There is a lot of veriables here. It could be crappy gas. Do you have the 4 or 6 cylinder? If its in the engine I would start by running the fuel in the tank down to 1/4 tank or less and fill up with Shell,BP or Sunoco gas and see what happens. If it machanical it could be the through out bearing but like the dealer said they will need to hear it. I hope this helps a little.
Thanks for your feedback. It doesn't sound like it is coming from the engine. I hear it from under my pedals. It occurred all times when I was shifting at around 3000-4000 rpm. I have the 4 by the way. I run chevron but just regular fuel.
