Default Leak or Radiator

IHi, I have a 1989 Honda Accord. Yesterday I noticed that my battery light was on and I couldn't figure out why. Today after I went to the store and came home, I noticed steam coming from the hood of my car and it was running hot. I lift the hood and yes, it was steaming but I didn't notice anything on the top. I let the car cool. After cooling, I noticed antifreeze underneath the car. I got a gallon of water and started pouring it in the anifreeze overflow thingy. As I was pouring, it was coming from beneath the car. I looked under the car and there it was. A hole in the thingy. The thingy is a plastic thing under the car. Could you tell me what that thing is and how much it might cost to replace it? and it that thing the problem?
Thank You

sounds like the lower radiator hose. are you sure it was plastic and not rubber? might be a good idea if you posted a picture of it.

lol the thingy is called the coolant oveflow bottle ..
If i were you i would fill the radiator and pressure test the cooling system .. beside the THINGY there might be some other issues with the cooling system .. to get a new thingy i would try calling the local junk yards
