I have a 1999 Accord DX. The left side (driver's side) CV joint is dying.

I called AutoZone and they told me that they don't have a P/N for a left side CV joint. It shows in the database, they say, but there's no P/N.

So I call my local Honda dealer to get a P/N to crossover and the guy said, "Well, I don't get it. It shows a new part P/N, but there's no re-manufactured CV joints for 1998 - 2002 Accords for the left side. We have right side CV joints in re-man, but not left. There's only new, which are $640.35. You can log onto our Internet sales site and get the new part for 25% discount, but that's still pricy. I don't know why there's a gap in re-man CV joints but there is. They stop at 1997 and start again in 2003."

Like the rest of you, I don't love replacing CV joints. I also don't love paying a lot of money for them (or anything). Someone has to make a part for these year model Accords. What do you know?

But my local O'Reilly Auto Parts said they have a new one from MasterPro in stock. Hmmm. I'll go have a look and keep you posted.

 

Worked. Seems to be no performance or functional differences between the ABS versions and non-ABS versions for this car, and only the ABS version is available. No idea why it was a problem for that first dealer.
