lighted gear positions near shifter?
It should light up. I'm sure the bulb is just out. Pull the bulb and take it to Radio Shack and find a replacement bulb that matches. That will save you some $ as you would more than likely be overcharged at a dealership.
I googled it and it is definitely supposed to light up. There is even a technical service bulletin TSB #000101 about it. I have checked my Haynes and it mentions nothing about a bulb. I have also checked hondaautomotiveparts.com (which provides some great diagrams by the way) and have been unable to find anything. All I can say is this: if it lights up, there has got to be some type of bulb generating that light. I would take apart my console and hunt for it. You'll have to take the console apart anyway to replace the bulb
My 95 lights up and I have had the center console removed and have seen the bulb. I believe its a 194 bulb and if you go to Wal-Mart or an auto store they are a pretty standard bulb. The hardest part is removing the center console and trim pieces just to get the bulb.
yes there is suppose to be lite there.. most likel;y the bulb went bad cal the dealer and get ( a/t shifter indicator lite bulb ) on the console ,
This has been a most informative topic for me. Thanks for asking that question. I'm not going hunting for the bulb beneath my gearshift but I am glad to know that I should have a light there. I will definately ask about it next time the car is in the shop for something.
