Default Looking for some help....

Okay, here is the deal...

It's a Honda, but not an Accord and it's not mine.

Our housemates own a 1992 Civic, in which the alternator has failed, they are working to pull out the alternator; but can't quite get the thing out.

Any advice or instructions? Since they didn't buy the repair manual like they should have, then they can wait a while.....

Wow, actually seized? I would have given the pulley a spin immediately when opening the box.

I don't know the trick to that car, but I had an Integra where I think you had to remove the axle to get the alternator out. I was glad it never failed in 130k miles...

Seized. The fan was contacting the body of the alternator. I wasn't part of the actual mission to find a replacement, so I wasn't able to warn him about using NAPA's parts. Considering I used to work for NAPA, I can vouch for crappy rebuilds.

Being ASE P2 certified has it's advantages. The OE unit could have been serviced here at the house, but given the mileage, it wasn't worth the risk of anything beyond carbon brush wear....

The trick to removal is to pull the bracket as well. The axle doesn't need to come out.
