Was cylinder head removed and valves repaired when timing belt failed? If not, you may have a bent valve leaking and causing problems.

Is check engine light on? What codes?

good luck

Yes new gasket only. no valves at the point was needed of repair. No light no codes thrown.

A leakdown test or simply blowing air into each cylinder at TDC and determining where air is leaking can tell if valves are leaking. Noise of air escaping into intake manifold or exhaust pipe indicates valve problems. Some leakage into crankcase is normal.

See leakdown test on youtube if you're unfamiliar w/ test. richpin06a, ericthecarguy, and briansmobile1 are good sources.

good luck
