Default low fuel light vs sending unit?

so if my fuel gauge or the sending unit is flakey, is my low fuel light accurate? My gas gauge seems to work for the upper 3/4 tank and then just goes empty, hoping to rely on the light until I get it fixed.

Default RE: low fuel light vs sending unit?

I'm pretty sure the light is driven by the same sensor. Best way to avoid running out of gas is to reset the odometer each time you fill up. Most Accords can be reliably expected to deliver 300 miles per tank w/ a reserve of several gallons. If you run out of gas before 300 miles, your car is seriously out of tune, or you drive very aggressively.

good luck
