Default low idle

i read through previous posts. i saw a guy that had a problem kinda like mine. i have a 2001 honda accord lx v6 3.0vtec automatic. i start my car and it idles around 250. ill shift it into gear and the idle stays that low. the car will die out but it will drive. i tested my alternator and battery. the battery is around 12.6 and the alternator about 12.8. so i know the alternator is low. i talked to a few peole and they agree with me that its my IAC. they told me to tap it and se if i can unstick it. does anyone think it might be a different problem, or where i can find my iac? all the help is greatly appriciated.

Your IAC is on the back of the resonance chamber of the throttle body. If you take off the air intake tube, there should be one or two holes on the inside of the throttle body that allow air to bypass the throttle plate. I think that the 6th gen have a combinded idle air control valve, where my fifth gen accord has two controls valve.

I would start the car with the intake tube off, and spray throttle body cleaner into that port. The cleaner will get pulled with the air through the IAC and clean it out. Try not to drench it, because the car will stall due to lack of air to the engine.

ok i got my problem fixed, i had to replace my IAC, i tried to clean it out, but to no avail. so i bought a new one and installed it. they a pain to get to cuz they are under the throttle body. but it doesnt take too long, just 4 (12mm) bolts(2 bolts, 2 nuts). and unpluga couple sensors and hoses and pull the throttle off. so if anyone has the same problem id be happy to help.
