can i chop the springs on my 89 accord coupe, or am going to have to spend some cheese?

yeah you can but you struts are gonna be shot after about a week of ridding around like that. Spend the money it’s well worth it.
BTW if you lower your car the right way it's gonna cost you...like 600-800bucks easy. If you don’t have that type of $$$$ to spend stay stock ride height plain and simple.
