Honda Virgin from Missouri
Hello everyone,
My name is Brad, and i just bought, about two hours ago, my first honda. Its a 91 EX Coupe 5 speed.
I've been an automotive technician since i was 17, ASE Certified Master tech since 20, and I'm now 25. Grew up a Ford boy, have had a few of those, decided to give a Honda a try, lol.
Found this baby on Craigslist posted as not running for 600 bucks. Looked at it, decided i liked it, gave him 500 and towed it home. Judging from past experience i was expecting to put a distributor or maybe an ECM in it to get it going (previous owner said no spark) Anyway, i get it home, slap a battery in it from one of my other cars, and it started right up, lol.
So I got myself into a running Accord for 500 bucks. It needs some TLC, but seems prettty solid... Has fiberglass Z3 fenders on it, all clear lights up front, a cherry bomb glass pack muffler (which i'm not too fond of, lol) and he threw in a complete set of front control arms too, the ball joints on the left front are pretty worn.
Anyway, that's my way too long intro... look forward to being a part of this community and hope i can give as much help as i need.

Welcome!
Make sure you take care of those ball joints. The sping pushes down on the lower control arm, which pulls the balljoint APART. If that BJ separates, your LCA hits the ground & your front wheel ends up in the next lane.
I never really understood why they arranged it that way.

Thanks for the welcomes!
Took care of the ball joints yesterday, and aligned it. I am all too familiar w/ what happens when a ball joint comes apart, lol... did a very thorough check-over on it as well and all i could find mechanically wrong w/ it was a torn outer CV boot on the driver's side and the rear wheel cylinders are seeping a bit, both of which i'm going to fix next week on payday. I was honestly very surprised that my 500 dollar car is in such good shape. She's no show car, but a very solid daily driver.
Thanks again for the warm welcome, now its time to explore the board a little bit and see what i can learn about this cool little car.

lol, i see where your coming from, but no, i havent had any personal experiences with ball joints separating, i've just seen the aftermath a few times...
thought i'd throw in a quick update on the car... got the valve lash adjusted, got rid of that annoying ticking.. lol... had a balance shaft seal blow out on me pulling into the parking lot at work, got that replaced w/ a genuine honda seal and retainer kit, also did both t-belts and water pump while i was in there... got my reverse lights fixed, there were two problems there, PO did a trunk swap and fubar'd the wiring, rewired that, and fixed a loose connection at the switch on the trans... got a new timing cover side mount, old was was good and busted, lol... otherwise, she's been a good little car so far
might be getting me some 17's tomorrow *fingers crossed* i might actually post some pics in the next couple days... lol
