Maint. Required flashes on start-up
ok ... when i start the car (or let the key sit in the "on" position) it flashes about 10 times. i read around that its only a reminder of some sort, is this correct? im at 78800 miles, and 2000 miles into my oil change with just having the trans. overhauled. can i turn off the light or do i need to do some maintenance?
thanks buddies.

By your screen-name this is a 2000 Accord??
If so, then it's just a reminder based on milage that you're due for maintenance. It goes off at the oil-change interval, but your maintenance schedule should list all the other stuff that you need to do. The maintenance warning doesn't do anything different at the big intervals where you need sparkplugs & ATF changes.
reset:
key OFF
press & hold the odometer-reset button
continue holding the reset button while you turn the key to ON
continue holding the reset button until it flashes a few times then goes out
